The Matrix TT Super Series round 3 tournament was a huge success. We had people from all over this time entering. We had a guy called Nima from Albania. We had Emanuel Asante who has represented Ghana at the Commonwealth games, he was our eventual winner. We had Rayan Ansari from Egypt, he was our finalist. Gicu Litovcenco from Moldova and Alex Anghel from Romania were also in the field of play along side many of Kent, Essex and East Sussex best players. Play consisted of 8 groups of 8 as before with the top 2 qualifying for the last 16 places. A draw was less random this time and it meant winners of groups all played runners up of others in the last 16.The Victor's of those matches were Harry Law (Faversham), Bodhit DC (Ashford) Raymond Jordan (Folkestone -15 time Folkestone champion), Richard Cardan (Sittingbourne) Ryan Farthing (Dartford) Emanuel Asante (Ghana) Daniel Howard (Essex) Rayan Ansari (Egypt)That meant that so many top England players within the top 100 were already out at the first knock out stages showing the quality and depth of the field. We then has the quarter final matches played over 4 tables simultaneously. Bodhit DC getting the better of his British league team mate, Harr Law, the score being 3-1 showing a close battle and lots of love between them both. We then had Raymond Jordan vs Daniel Howard which was a 3-0 encounter with Daniel coming out victorious. Emanuel Asante played Ryan Farthing, much to everyone's surprise, Ryan contested a very tight match unfortunately only to lose 3-1. Finally Rayan Ansari beat Richard Carden. Moving onto the semi finals. The match ups again were played simultaneously with Bodhit DC battling it out against our soon to be crowned Ghanaian champion. Bodhit put up some resistance but ultimately went down 3-0. The other semi final was a battle for the ages. Daniel Howard vs his British league Woodford Wells TTC team mate Rayan Ansari. The tie was levelled at 2 all and 10-10 when Rayan was fortunate to get some luck to win 12-10 show casing his mental prowess and celebrating in his typical loud fashion. The final seemed as if it would be a walk in the park for Emanuel Asante but as he plays against his Woodford Wells team mates all the time, this was not to be much to the spectators delight. Emanuel Asante was the eventual winner in a very close hard fought battle with his team mate Rayan Ansari. Both players played 11 matches to get to that final and was rewarded with a medal and some prize money. And that concluded the day. We would like to thank our sponsors Bribar Table Tennis, Canterbury Kinetic therapy, Laws Waste Services and Wat Santi Vanaram for their support and help.
