TOURNAMENT REGULATIONS
As a tournament participant, it's important to familiarise yourself with our tournament regulations. These regulations ensure fair play, sportsmanship, and an enjoyable experience for all players. Feel free to reach out to us if you have any questions or need further clarification.
Rules for the tournament.
• All matches will be played in accordance with normal rules in which play will be best of 5, first to 11 with deuce rules (2 clear points to win the set starting at 10-10)
• Competitors must be members of table tennis England for insurance purposes (free to do as a club member)
• Entrants will be deemed scratched unless previously notified of a late arrival if not within a 60-minute window of start time, and the place will be offered to any entrants looking for a scratch entry on the
day. NO REFUND WILL BE OFFERED IN THIS INSTANCE.
• A time schedule is in place and should be strictly kept limiting the risk of delay for the next matches.
• Group winners will be decided on matches won. If those are equal with another player, then it will be the head-to-head between those 2 positions to determine who goes through as 1st and who goes through second. Everyone else in the group will finish joint 3rd. there is no consolation.
• If there is a 3-way tie for 1st and 2nd place in the group, this will be determined by sets won/lost. If that is still tied between the players then it will go down to points won/lost. This will be done on a spreadsheet and will be updated as results come back.
• A report for the newspaper and recordings will take place for the MATRIX TT YouTube channel and website, if you do not wish to be a part of these, please notify me (Joe Britnell) prior to the event commencing so I can do my best to limit this.
• Acceptance of these Regulations is itself a condition of entry.
• Play will be with Tibhar or equivalent seamless 3* balls.
• No refunds will be accepted due to financial cost to run the events.
• Time outs will only be allowed from the knockout stages only and a strict one-minute time out will be allowed once per match.
• Tournament referees’ decisions (Joe Britnell) are final in regard to the implementation of the rules.
• Doping is not allowed and normal procedures for such issues will be followed. No speed glue or other such substances to glue bats will be allowed as accordance with ITTF ruling.
• Due to volume of matches in the group stages, there will be no consolation event and a straight knock-out to determine our winner will ensue.
• Spectators welcome. If they require food, it may be available, food is complimentary for players but to spectators, a £1 charge is applicable.
• Late entries may be allowed and are at the discretion of the committee however there will be a late entry fee which will be applicable for all entries whether on the website or bank transfer. The draw will then include these players in the groups and they will be added in chronological order of their entry, IE if someone enters first and group 5 is the first available, they will fill that space before player B enters and fills group 6 regardless of their national ranking, they will therefore be unseeded.
• The tournament organiser (Joe Britnell) holds the right to make any judgement calls such as; late entries not being put in the same group as someone else from their county where possible. This will over ride the previous ruling above, and then that rule take over thereafter.
• Please note, that the tournament draw will only be announced on the day of the event.
• Late entry fee after closing date will be £5 (including initial entry) for the first week, and thereafter will increase to £8 (including initial tournament fee).
• The draw will solely be done using the TTE ranking system. The rankings used will be the one available one week prior to the draw of each event commencing, if someone is unranked in those rankings then tournament organisers discretion may be used.
