The Matrix TT 5th July 2025 tournament has finalised and all results are available. It proved yet another successful tournament with a full entry of 64 players from all over Kent, east sussex and London coming to prove their skills amongst the best. We had some enthralling encounters in the group stages but ultimately the last 16 moved forward. The last 16 match ups are as follows. Richard carden was first up facing off against kent hero, Martin Ball who seemed to put up the fight of his life going the distance against the two time kent champion, Richard winning in a close fought 5 sets. Ed baker and mario ioakim from the ebatt club in north London was a similarly tight match with ed getting the better of his London compatriot Harry law played perry oliver and again some resistance, ultimately perry went down 3-1 and law advanced to another quarter final. Emmanuel asante returned for the event he won last time out, and his last 16 match against jozef krazkovsky, he was unchallenged and he also moved on to the quarter final. Ryan farthing and nana ansah (woodford wells ttc) proved to be the best match of this round with both going blow for blow but ultimately the score line went in favour of ryan who defeated nana 3-2 Kiarash shaddel faced off with doniyor makhkamov, the in form makhkamov proved too strong for kiarash, swiping past him in 4 sets. Damian Lesniewski and Q yat chan, both were surprise qualifers from the group and the match lived up to expectation with damian winning and advancing to his first matrix tt quarter final This left the final match of the last 16 stage between bodhit dc and Russell bates which was unfortunately very one sided match, as the 2 were engaged in a tight set but bodhit getting the better of his elder. The quarter final stage started with Richard carden faced off against ed baker from the morpeth club in London, the former ultimately winning relatively unchallenged. Surprise quarter finalist damian lesniewski again stunned as he went on to beat ryan farthing in 4 sets thus announcing himself as a serious contender for the title. Bodhit faced with doniyor makhkamov which promised to be a fiery encounter and the whole match was as such, both men locked in at 2 sets all with the score line poised at 10-10, bodhit took the final 2 points to claim victory and head to another semi final. Emmanuel asante faced off against harry law in an equally thrilling encounter with asante getting the better of harry in the 5th set, not without challenge. Laws controlled game making it exceptionally difficult for asante to penetrate, in the end however, laws game broke down enough for an opening which was duly capitalised on and with this result, asante moved on to another semi final. This set up some excellent matches for a place in the final, bodhit gave up little in the way of points against the in form damian lesniewski, finally ending his run of form at the semi final stage. Bodhit progressed to another final to face either the previous winner or the multiple county champion, this left a tantalising end to an already amazing day. The other side of the draw was between Emmanuel asante and Richard carden. Both exchanged blows throughout with asante winning the first set only to be pegged back to 1 set all, carden then upping his game and consistent spin shots to take the 3rd set before asante clawed his way back yet again. With the match tied up at 2-2, Richard and asante started nervously as they tried to assert their dominance on the game, carden got an early lead only to be levelled, he again took another lead, only to be levelled once more. And when he finally took his third lead, it was enough to see out the match and meet his kent rival in the final. With both men in fine form after bodhits incredible run at the fusion ttc tournament a week previous, this promised to be a spectacle. Richards fire power and spin proved too much in the first set against an ever improving bodhit. The Nepalese man hit back winning the second set with a flurry of huge fire power from both wins. Spurred on by the crowd, carden was relentless in the 3rd set to assert some dominance but ultimately found himself in a grave position to get things under control. With bodhit pressing hard to get a lead, he faltered by over playing and that let carden capitalise taking the set to lead 2-1. This change in momentum proved to be the defining moment of the match as then carden got off to a better start in the 4th set and never looked back claiming his first matrix tt title. We are now yet to find a repeat winner after 4 events, 4 different winners. The next events promise to be something special with the introduction of a new venue in Maidstone with 15 tables so double the capacity of players.
